RIW Got a .MOSCOW Domain Right Before the Moscow City Day

The Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID) as the registry for the .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА extenstions has transferred to the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) a riw.moscow domain name for RIW, the largest Russian annual industry conference in the field of information technology.

FAITID is a member of RAEC, which has long been an organizer of RIW. This year's RIW will be the seventh. The organizers decided to expand its thematic focus by adding media and telecommunications to IT.

Because of this, the meaning of the acronym RIW was changed from "Russian Internet Week" to "Russian Interactive Week". So RAEC received a new domain name for RIW from FAITID right before the Moscow City Day – riw.moscow.

"Over the years, RIW has become a meeting place for the Internet community of Russia, CIS, and beyond." said Dmitry Burkov, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development. "So it makes sense that such a major event, after expanding its scope and slightly changing the name, gets a .MOSCOW domain name. We hope that the project will soon start using riw.moscow as the main address for its website."

The Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development has participated in RIW many times, with its representatives acting as speakers at the conference. FAITID will join RIW once again this year — November 12-14, Expocentre.
